What a Movement Session Looks Like (No Experience Needed)

New to movement training in Chicago? A movement session at my gym is simple. You move. You learn. You rest. No experience needed. Here is what a session looks like.

A session starts slow

A session starts with joint circles. Neck. Shoulders. Hips. Knees. Ankles. Small moves. Slow moves. Then some hanging from a bar. Hanging opens the shoulders. It feels good after a day at a desk. Nothing here is a test. You go at your pace.

Then skill work

Next comes skill work. That could be a wall handstand. That could be a deep squat hold. That could be a balance drill. I teach small steps. You do one step at a time. You rest between tries. No rush. No race.

Then a short strength part

After skill work comes simple strength work. Hangs. Squats. Push-ups from the floor. Slow reps. Good form.

Then floor work

A session often ends with floor work. You sit on the floor. You crawl. You squat low. You shift weight from side to side. This is flow training. Flow training is smooth ground movement. It teaches your hips and shoulders to work together. It looks odd at first. That is fine. Everyone starts odd.

Then a cool down. Stretch. Breathe. Done.

Who is a session for?

A session is for people who sit all day. It is for lifters who feel stiff. It is for runners who want to move better. It is for people who never did this before. You do not need to be bendy. You do not need to be strong yet. You just need to be ready to learn.

What should you bring?

Wear clothes you can move in. Bring water. That is it. I handle the rest.
